O Projeto Acadêmico Uirá Aerodesign nasceu em 2001, e consiste em projetar, construir, testar e voar uma aeronave cargueira rádio controlada em escala reduzida não tripulada, nas competições de Aerodesign.
Hoje a equipe participa da Competição da SAE Brasil Aerodesign nas classes Regular e Micro, e conta com cerca de 30 membros estudantes da Universidade Federal de Itajubá.
