We are The 93% Club Kent, part of a national collective of University societies across the UK. The figure (93%) aptly represents the underrepresented 93% of school students across the UK that are from state schools.
State-educated students receive significantly fewer resources and opportunities during and beyond their secondary education, something that will impact their entire life. We are here to tackle social mobility at university level to bring about equal opportunities for future careers. The core objective of is to enhance opportunities available and level the playing field for the 93% of students who have attended state schools.
Aims:
1) Offer students from state school backgrounds a platform where they can share experiences, opinions, concerns, and useful social/educational resources, as well as campaigning on the issues they believe in.
2) Build a social community for students that have come to Kent from state schools, through social events.
3) Offer practical advice, workshops and events that build professional networks with major UK employers, boost CV’s and prepare students for interviews.
