The organization began with the purchase and restoration of the Myers Residence, home Stephen and Harriet Myers, two of Albany’s most prominent Black abolitionists. UREC offers tours of the residence, serves as the home of a growing collection of primary Underground Railroad artifacts and documents, and inspires leaders of change through community engagement programs.
