Understanding Theology is an educational resource for Theology and a platform to ask, answer, research and engage in debate with and about Theology.
We are not affiliated or exclusively linked with any particular Faith or religious tradition, our content is made by people of all traditions and none.
We do not criticise or attempt to convert anybody. The aim is to bring people together and prove that difference is not a bad thing, that difference does not cause conflict. Conflict is born from fear and ignorance and we seek to overcome that in ourselves and others by promoting understanding and education.
We want to encourage people to surround themselves with different people and ideas, especially ones that they disagree with. And engage meaningfully and respectfully with those people and ideas; trying to understand them, especially the ones they disagree with.
We hope that by encouraging these things we can reduce the distance that develops between different groups and people, distance that becomes an empty space defined by ignorance which is then filled with resentment, fear and hatred.
Ultimately we believe that all conflict is born through this process of feeding ignorance and encouraging fear. So our response is to promote understanding and foster friendships across the most intractable of conflicts with the ultimate aim of achieving peace. After all, why should we aim for less?
