UniServer is a multinational project that targets the development of a universal micro-server architecture and software ecosystem awarded full funding (4.85M €) by the E.U. Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Program. The project was one of only 5 accepted proposals (with 5% acceptance rate) that were finally selected and its top ranking within a very competitive call indicates the ambitious and novel objectives of the project.
UniServer aspires to deliver by 2019 a unique fully working prototype that will turn the opportunities in the emerging Big Data and IoT markets into real, smarter products that can improve the everyday life and lead to a substantial financial and employment growth. The project consortium consisting of partners with a unique blend of expertise, including world’s leading low-power processor and Server-on-Chip suppliers (ARM, APM) as well as a system software developer (IBM), and a set of emerging application drivers and established research organisations (Queen's University Belfast, Universities of Athens, Thessaly, Cyprus) is led by Queen's University Belfast, U.K.
