The Universal Snakebite Education and Research (USER) Organisation is a registered
leading educational and training provider on snakebite research, awareness and first-aid
management services. We are based in India with a global membership and established in the
year 2019. We provide a wide range of services to address the global tragedy of snakebite
envenoming and also provide research support (diagnostics / analytical / new product
development) for the betterment of snakebite management.
Snakebite remains one of the most neglected tropical diseases. In the year 2009, the
World Health Organisation (WHO) added snakebite envenoming to their list of recognized
‘Neglected Tropical Diseases’ (NTDs). Snakebite impacts so many lives, especially the rural
population throughout the world. Every year, thousands of snakebite victims die or get maimed
permanently because of a lack of effective treatment facility.
Universal Snakebite Education and Research Organisation was founded to give a quality
education on snakebite through awareness and research services to support the needy ones and to
give voice on behalf of the snakebite victims to the WHO as a snakebite stakeholder to address
the snakebite related issues across the nation. We work with a motto “Towards zero snakebite
mortality”.
Our objectives are to achieve the essential improvements in the outcomes for snakebite
victims.
1. To deliver snakebite prevention and first aid promotion activities among the high risk
population.
2. To support on the epidemiological surveillance through research networks by analyzing
the snakebite burden and needs.
3. To coordinate and promote scientific research into snakebite related issues by
encouraging partnerships with healthcare providers, academic institutions, antivenom
manufacturers, scientists, medical professionals and wildlife department officials.
4. To provide advocacy on behalf of snakebite victims at national and international levels.
