The University of Development Alternative (UODA) was established in 2002 with a pioneering mission to nurture a new generation of skilled, ethical, and self-reliant individuals equipped to meet both national and global challenges. UODA aims to provide holistic education that integrates technical knowledge with intellectual, moral, and social values—developing graduates who are not only experts in their fields but also responsible members of society.
UODA’s foundation lies in the visionary concept of Complete Education for Alternative Development (CEFAD), developed by its President, Professor Mujib Khan. The CEFAD model offers a three-tiered educational system—school, college, and university—embodied through the School of Development Alternative (SODA), College of Development Alternative (CODA), and University of Development Alternative (UODA). This integrated approach focuses on comprehensive human development through academic excellence, ethical grounding, and social awareness.
Originating from the Student Welfare Organisation of Bangladesh (SWOB)—a non-profit established in 1978—UODA was created to bring about qualitative change in Bangladesh’s education system by offering an "alternative" model focused on moral and social development alongside academic achievement.
Today, UODA operates under six faculties, offering undergraduate and graduate programs in over 14 disciplines, designed to meet the evolving demands of modern society and the global workforce.
At UODA, education is not limited to the acquisition of knowledge—it is about nurturing human conscience and shaping future leaders who contribute meaningfully to national progress and global advancement.
