The University of Haripur Overview

The establishment of the University of Haripur (UoH) marks a significant milestone in the history of higher education within the Hazara region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. This region is intersected by the renowned international Karakoram Highway. The idea to establish UoH gained substantial momentum due to a strong shared vision among stakeholders about the direction this endeavor should take. The motivation behind UoH is underpinned by unofficially validated estimations that anticipate an enrollment of approximately 8,000 to 10,000 students by 2017-18 upon the completion of proposed physical and academic infrastructure. Emphasizing education across all levels with a robust Islamic foundation is of paramount importance for the nation. The institution firmly believes in the centrality of education that produces principled, ethically-driven leaders dedicated to serving the country. This approach seeks to foster a new generation of leaders who grasp the critical significance of justice and peace in Pakistan. It is expected that UoH will attain global recognition for its contributions. The existing premises of the University of Haripur span an area of 236 Kanals. Historically, this area housed a Rosin and Turpentine factory established by the Forest Development Corporation (FDC). The factory's foundation stone was laid on September 9, 1953, by the then Governor General of Pakistan. The factory's core purpose was to extract rosin and turpentine from forest resources, with a portion of the generated revenue allocated to forest conservation efforts.
