The Unlearn Initiative is a collective of multi-talented students and alumni promoting anti-discrimination whilst fostering advocacy for social justice in Japanese international schools. Our team of academics, creatives, writers, and teachers works collaboratively to innovate inclusive teaching and curricula in schools that will give young people the knowledge and tools to “unlearn” their prejudices and fight for justice in their community both locally and globally.
We offer 4 modules on the topics sex education, mental health, post-colonialism and whiteness, and intersectionality. Our modules explore how these issues are relevant within the unique, cross-cultural context of Japanese international schools, and aim to provide students with knowledge that will challenge them to become actively anti-discriminatory in their everyday lives.
