The University of Oran 2 Mohamed Ben Ahmed is a prominent institution of higher learning located in Oran, Algeria. Although it is a relatively young institution, its history traces back to the establishment of the original Oran University in 1967. It was officially created on September 22, 2014 through Decree N.14-261, which led to the division of the original University of Oran into two separate entities: Oran 1 Ahmed Ben Bella and Oran 2 Mohamed Ben Ahmed. It is named after Mohammed Ben Ahmed, also known as Major Si Musa, who played a significant role in organizing the National Liberation Army during Algeria’s struggle for independence.
