UP Center for Women's and Gender Studies

The UP Center for Women’s and Gender Studies (UPCWGS) is committed to advancing women’s rights, gender equality, and social justice within the University of the Philippines and larger society. Since 1989, we have led efforts in research, training, advocacy, and community engagement to address issues impacting women and other marginalized groups. UPCWGS collaborates with academic, government, non-government agencies and organizations, civil society organizations, and community partners to explore critical topics such as women’s rights, SOGIE (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Expression), gender-based violence, women's economic and political participation and leadership. It also engages with emerging and contemporary gender concerns that highlight evolving societal dynamics and processes including the digital gender divide and online harassment, climate change, disability, men and masculinities, workplace inclusivity and the future of work, aging, caregiving, bodily autonomy, intersectional feminism and allyship.
