UTS Advanced Fabrication Research Laboratory (AFRL)

Based in Sydney, the Advanced Fabrication Research Lab (AFRL) is a research-led space that offers state-of-the-art facilities for the production of artefacts and prototypes using the latest and most advanced digital tools, software, and machines. With capabilities of 3D printing, additive manufacturing, rod bending, welding, CNC machining, and sensor integration, the AFRL is equipped with cutting-edge advanced technologies to assist you with your project needs. Specialising in large-scale robotics with equipment like the KR120, KR10, and UR10 robotic arms, Shima Seiki 3D knitting machine, and advanced applications of HoloLens technology, there are no limits. Since its inception in 2014, the AFRL has supported research, teaching, and commercial activities, becoming a leader in the fabrication of bespoke artefacts. The lab focuses on sustainable design and custom fabrication, driving forward the boundaries of digital fabrication and advanced manufacturing. Its continuous collaboration with academics and industry partners on cutting-edge research ensures the AFRL remains at the forefront of innovation in fabrication technology.
