The UW-W Esports Club is a club on the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater campus with the goal to provide a platform on which students, regardless of any status, can get together to either casually play Esports competitive games, or get involved in competitive teams and leagues with the opportunity for prize money and other benefits.
Our main objective is to provide an experience for anyone who is interested in competitive gaming and its benefits. Competitive games build teamwork, help develop a strong social network, improve communication skills, and benefit in leadership development. We hope to bring together parts of campus that previously didn’t have an outlet, including a first outreach to the UW-Rock County campus and its students as well as be able to provide the opportunities to those unable to compete in traditional sports. The Esports club was founded by Jacob Halfman in October of 2018 and officially received recognition by the UW-Whitewater Career and Leadership Development for the Spring Semester of the 2018-19 Academic year.
