Vangani Racing Overview

Vangani Racing was established in South Africa in 1996, originally as Protocom Racing, to sponsor and promote promising South African motocross racers. The company's activities expanded internationally in 1998, when it assisted Grant Langston, a future motocross world champion, to get to Europe for some international events. In 1999, the team started sponsoring Tyla Rattray, also a future motocross world champion, and Richard van Der Westhuizen, a future 10 time South African motocross champion. The team sponsored Tyla Rattray's entry into the 1999 80cc junior world championships, where he finished third. In 2000, the main operations of the team relocated to Germany, and it became a fully international team, participating in the motocross European Championships. In 2000, the team moved to Belgium, and advanced ot the motocross world championships. It remained active in Europe until 2009. Some of the top-line international riders assisted by the team include Grant Langston (world champion), Tyla Rattray (world champion), Ben Townley (world champion, Tanel Leok (double junior world champion and GP winner), Matiss Karro (junior world champion) Jeremy van Horebeek (GP winner), Evgeny Bobryshev (GP winner), Tim Gajser (multiple world champion), and others Vangani Racing again started assisting young motocross riders and roadracers in South Africa and Europe in 2020. The company is actively promoting the careers of promising riders, and working towards establishing an international presence again. Apart from its direct activities in motocross racing, Vangani Racing provides translation services for one of Europe's premier motocross websites, and its owner produces regular articles and videos for international consumption. The company is also the driving force behind YouthForce Racing, an active international Facebook group focusing on young racers.
