VITRINE was a contemporary art gallery dedicated to artistic experimentation and emerging interdisciplinary practices. Founded in 2010 in a 16-meter vitrine in Bermondsey Square, London, the gallery operated until 2024, expanding to spaces in Bermondsey Street (2012–2015), Basel, Switzerland (2016–2024), and Fitzrovia, London (2022–2024). A digital platform complemented its physical locations from 2020–2023.
Known for its transparent spaces in Bermondsey Square and Basel's Vogesenplatz, VITRINE made art accessible 24/7 to the public, fostering engagement through satellite exhibitions, gallery collaborations, and international art fairs.
The gallery earned a reputation for discovering and nurturing new international talent, representing artists from the UK, Switzerland, Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the US. Focused on diversity, the program championed interdisciplinary approaches in installation, sculpture, and performance, often addressing socio-political issues. It showcased site-responsive practices in alternative settings beyond the traditional white cube, supporting underrepresented voices in the art market.
VITRINE adopted a hybrid business model early on, securing public and private funding to support artist-driven projects. Its portfolio included an extensive array of outdoor sculptures, highlighted by the Sculpture At program in Bermondsey Square (2014–2018).
Collaboration was central to VITRINE’s ethos. From 2023–2024, the gallery hosted joint exhibitions with international peer galleries, fostering dialogue across global art communities.
A member of the New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) and the Gallery Climate Coalition (GCC), VITRINE maintained a strong commitment to sustainability and partnerships throughout its history.
