Sinds eind 2020 krijgt Voedselbos Vierhoeven vorm. Op een perceel van 9 ha aan de rand van Roosendaal gaan we voedsel produceren voor de lokale markt. In een voedselbos staan meerjarige bomen en planten, variërend in hoogte: van hoge bomen tot bodembedekkers en wortels. Door gebruik te maken van de hoogte is kan optimaal zonlicht worden opgevangen. Veel fotosynthese en energietransformatie dus! Zonder verlies van energie en geld aan input zoals mest, bestrijdingsmiddelen en water.
Het voedselbos gaat een variatie aan noten, fruit, kruiden, paddenstoelen en groenten leveren. Mét meerwaarde op vele vlakken: biodiversiteit, bodemkwaliteit, water (kwaliteit en kwantiteit), landschap, de mens en zijn leefomgeving.
