The brainchild of Dr. Raj Warrier, former Vice Chancellor of Manipal University, the Volunteer Services Organization of MAHE, initiated on September 17, 2007, allows students, staff, and their families to make a positive impact by helping those in need. It serves as a platform not only for assisting the less fortunate, but also for enabling volunteers to develop new skills, and teamwork abilities, and grow as a person.
Dr. M. D. Venkatesh, the current Vice Chancellor of the University, has always guided the organization in implementing various projects, including visits to orphanages, schools for the specially-abled, pediatric wards, old age homes, and slums weekly! Additionally, the organization conducts Blood Donation Campaigns, Clean Manipal Campaigns, and other activities year-round.
VSO comprises more than 6000 active volunteers across a variety of colleges in Manipal, Mangalore, Jameshedpur and Bangalore. The organization undertakes projects towards community, social, organizational, and soft skills development.
The primary goal of VSO is to cultivate a spirit of selfless service by addressing community needs, and social issues, and fostering the leadership and learning skills of the volunteers.
After all, we come together in hopes of forging a path to a better society.
