Wainsgate Chapel is a beautiful Grade II* listed building and former Baptist chapel, owned by the Historic Chapels Trust. It is also a newly registered charity run by a group of enthusiastic volunteers dedicated to creating a vibrant, meaningful space that all can enjoy. We are hidden away down a quiet track on a hillside above Hebden Bridge, a location which offers stunning views of the surrounding Pennines. Its tranquillity makes it a perfect place to visit and reflect on both the history of the chapel and its current significance. A thriving arts programme with regular concerts, dance performances, artists’ studios, workshops and dance residencies, as well as many other events, makes Wainsgate a dynamic heritage and arts centre. Here people can come and enjoy the arts, learn about the history of the building and the area, or immerse themselves in the beautiful graveyard outside. Wainsgate is a unique combination of heritage, contemporary art projects and cultural programmes.
