Synopsis Reflecting over his life, giving a lesson in maturity to his son Jay; the legendary R&B singer Harold Melvin stands in front of mounted pictures and awards explaining the importance of hard work, responsibility and legacy. After Jay leaves, Harold looking over his accomplishments oddly collapses. Lying incapacitated on his living room floor, in walks Harold’s young self, late teens, days from being a man. The senior Harold, speechless, stares at his younger self who takes us on a journey to when he discovers his gift as a prolific songwriter, arranger, singer and performer. Later, enters the 30 something Harold at the height of his career; confident, cocky, worldly, a polished business man, father, artist and indulger of all the pleasures that come with world stardom. He dismisses the younger Harold, even the older man on the floor feels he needs to bow. This Harold continues the tale of love for his wife Ovelia, his tumultuous business relationship and friendship with Teddy Pendergrass, the women in his life, the collaborations with Philadelphia International Records musical giants Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, the revolving door of group members, the legal battles over the Blue Notes name and the creation of powerhouse hits like "The Love I Lost" and "Wake Up." Harold’s story is abruptly interrupted when Ovelia finds him on the floor and rushes him to the hospital. After overhearing the doctors say he will never sing again; Harold refuses to accept the prognosis. He slowly pulls his IV and tubes from his body. The hospital staff and family members assist him up. A wardrobe and make up artist come in to dress him, a stage manager goes over details of the show... it’s a surreal moment. Harold rises, a new man, better than he has ever been, making sure everything is set for his last performance.
