The Walker Education and Research Foundation (WERF) is a non-profit organization formed for the benefit of young Canadians, in honour of Dr. Shawn Michael Walker and his father, Mr. Michael Peter Walker. WERF aims to provide individuals living in remote Canadian communities, especially youth, with educational and capacity-building programming to improve student retention, equalize education opportunity, and promote research accessibility to the public.
