Wamina Overview

Wamina is a Mozambican innovative brand that empowers and inspires girls to reach their full potential. Wamina aims to provide girls, especially those most vulnerable to poverty and exclusion information and an easy to use, economic, healthy and socially conscious menstrual hygiene product. The project aims to distribute Wamina Pads, reusable sanitary pads with a life span of at least a year, a more practical, economic, and ecological option that will help to increase girls’ self-esteem and self-confidence while on the period. During the Wamina Workshops we provide fact based information on the period, menstrual hygiene, demystifying predominant social taboos surrounding the period, and positive body image. For this reason, we have developed a child friendly guides on menstruation and menstrual hygiene and self-esteem. Wamina also aims to support female entrepreneurship at the community level by promoting the development of Wamina Microfranchising model.
