More than a third of the Greater Region is covered by forest, which is a major source of timber and home to many of the key players involved in its processing. In the face of climate change, the face of the forest is changing and so is the resource available for processing. How will this resource change? What uses can be made of it? What measures should be put in place to link producers and processors? How can we maintain the development of economic activities in which the conservation of the GR resource is a priority? The various entities involved in the GR have a shared desire to support the development of a high-performance local wood industry based on maintaining and relocating the value chain within the region, while at the same time increasing the use of wood, which has an excellent ecological balance sheet and a significant carbon storage capacity, particularly in construction.
