Controlled environment agriculture is an important piece of the puzzle when it comes to addressing food security issues. It is a very climate resilient and efficient mechanism of growing food at large scale without having negative impacts on the wider environment. Team Wegro is on a mission to make farming devoid of constraints and celebrate it as a delightful activity for all. We are conceptualizing novel pods for convenient Urban farming using aeroponic techniques and innovative design layouts, to result in low-energy intensive and controlled-environment systems for Households(B2C) as well as Commercial (B2B) purposes.
*Why this problem?*
Wegro is the story of two determined entrepreneurs from engineering & product design backgrounds aiming to create a Technology and Design driven Business Startup in the field of Urban Agriculture, Health & Nutrition. As city dwellers, we both are unhappy with how distant we have become from greenery in our daily lives. While Gardening is a solution, Farming is a great alternative because of its productive outcome and the sense of joy it provides when you grow your own food. But not everyone is privileged enough to have space for a kitchen garden, nor do they have time for learning and putting in the effort in their busy schedules. That is where we found an opportunity. Our solution domain is technology pushed, as hydroponics is still a relatively new form of agriculture and is in line with the trends of high interest in gardening (especially after Covid), demand for fresher and Organic veggies, Veganism, mental health awareness, & sustainable lifestyle.
