Handbalvereniging SEW (SEW staat voor Sport En Wilskracht) is in augustus 1951 opgericht. Zoals uit oude kronieken te lezen is, was SEW al in 1976 in de race om het landskampioenschap. Dat was dan wel om het (laatste) kampioenschap veld- (elf) handbal. Later werd men tweemaal Nederlands kampioen zeven handbal op het veld.
