Westside Health Authority (WHA) is a nonprofit community development organization that has been serving Chicago’s Austin neighborhood and surrounding areas, including Lawndale, Garfield, and other nearby communities, for over 30 years. WHA has evolved from a grassroots group of volunteers advocating for change to a robust organization offering programs across five key service areas: reentry and community employment support, youth employment and mentoring, community wellness, community property development, and economic development. A vital part of WHA’s economic development efforts includes providing programs and services for Special Service Areas, which are designated commercial and residential corridors focused on ensuring the vibrancy and sustainability of businesses along some of Austin's busiest streets.
