Wild About Bunnies was founded in 2020 by 2 animal lovers, who are passionate about rabbit care, and welfare.
Unfortunately, rabbits are still being sold in pet stores for money, often being sold as single rabbits, but rabbits suffer with loneliness, and need to be housed with a bonded companion to live a contented life. These pet stores also sell hutches, and lead owners to believe a hutch is enough to house their rabbit.
This couldn't be further from the truth. Rabbits need daily exercise in order to live a healthy life, preventing deformities and boredom. They need access to chew toys to wear down their teeth, they need puzzle toys to prevent boredom, and must have the option to dig and forage, to mimic their natural habitat. Keeping a rabbit confined behind bars is cruel. A hutch is certainly not enough.
Rabbits have complex digestive systems, and their diet should be 85% hay, 10% fresh greens, and only 5% pellets. Too many pellets can lead to health problems including obesity and GI Stasis, which can be fatal. A main diet of good quality hay, is essential for your rabbit's wellbeing.
Many accessories sold in mainstream pet stores are very unsafe for rabbits; Toys often contain glue, and unsafe paint. Treats regularly contain seeds, corn, and too much sugar, which can lead to illness, and fatalities. Sawdust is also promoted as a suitable bedding, but this can cause serious respiratory problems, and should never be used. Any soft wood shavings are also unsuitable. Bedding such as shredded paper, or suitable substrates should be used.
We therefore created Wild About Bunnies, selling only safe rabbit treats, toys, and accessories, offering peace of mind to rabbit lovers.
