Wildlife Veterinary Foundation Ltd

Wildlife Veterinary Foundation Ltd company information, Employees & Contact Information

The Wildlife Veterinary Foundation is a new-start charity supporting conservation vets in Africa. Our Founder, Richard Harvey is a conservation vet operating in some of the most remote areas of Africa. This role brings amazing opportunities to support fantastic conservation efforts, but it's anything but romantic. He sees first hand, week in week out, the challenges faced by conservation vets: shoestring budgets, dangerous assignments, worn out equipment, challenging bureaucracy, wild animals, armed poachers... His stories are quite amazing. Projects are diverse: attaching tracking collars to forest elephants, relocating giraffe from one park to another, managing lion populations, monitoring monkey troops, etc. These projects tend to be in remote areas and are commissioned by governments, NGOs, private ranches or public parks. There are many organisations doing great work across Africa, but there are too few vets available, and there are always more projects to undertake. As a result, Harvey covers a lot of costs from his own pocket. The Foundation has been created to support his work, and the work of other conservation vets. Initially we intend to enable Harvey to acquire and upgrade kit & equipment. Later, we aspire to support more projects and protect more of the Planet's most vulnerable and exciting animals. Our very first step is to tell the world what it's really like and what Harvey needs. And it's a real adventure.
