Women First Fund is an investment fund owned by women and dedicated to the economic empowerment of women in Botswana. It was founded in 2020 after a group of women decided to turn their shared interests into an official Investment Trust. The initial investment is a monthly contribution to raise capital to funding.
Our vision is to create a business owned and managed by women to benefit women in business. WFF is an investment group that is genuinely focused on the triple bottom line: the people, women empowerment (financial and otherwise) as well as profit generation for the shareholders.
The purpose of the Women First Fund shall be to:
I. Invest, on a cooperative basis, in women owned businesses and/or projects for the benefit of its members as well as to otherwise engage in any lawful activity connected with or related to its purposes.
II. Be a successful business that adds value through the fundamental goal of transformation using broad-based approach to deliver added value within the business, investors (members and/or otherwise), stakeholders and contribute to economic diversification in Botswana.
III. Actively grow the overall value of investee companies, looking especially for opportunities to grow that value through new business operations that stimulate growth and set up of women owned businesses at the medium to smaller segment of the market.
IV. Provide active input regarding business transformation with the aim to empower women not only through ownership and dividends but also through dynamic business strategies, training and mentorship and venturing into male dominated industries to fulfil diversity and inclusion.
