Today, Internet radio applications are limiting their users. However it’s not their fault. Top music applications are limited by rules and regulations constructed by music licensing organizations such as BMI. These applications offer music in high quality but limit people’s listening time, song plays, and music offered. Womp is taking advantage of this problem by using unconventional databases to populate Womp.in. By utilizing this strategy, Womp can offer more music at substantially lower cost to both the company and the user, allowing us to focus on developing a platform focused on socializing the music community.
Streaming songs from YouTube (45M songs) and Sound Cloud (16M songs) opens opportunities for Womp. The opportunities include; fast access to music, freedom from licenses, and minimal storage cost. When artists upload music to either Youtube or SoundCloud, the music automatically becomes available on Womp. Since we crowd-source all music, we do not pay royalty fees or file storage costs associated with applications like Pandora.
