An expansion of the WoVeN peer support network, the BRIDGES program is designed to support women service members with the transition from military service to civilian life. Women service members attend a one-day retreat to reflect on personal strengths and skills developed during service and consider dreams and goals for life after service. Perhaps most importantly, service members identify challenges, concerns, and potential barriers for achieving those goals. Then, the BRIDGES program matches women service members with women Veterans and create pairs of Battle Buddies. Women Veterans offer support and guidance to the transitioning service member through the six months (or more!) of reintegration into civilian life. And, of course, new Veterans are always warmly welcomed into the larger WoVeN national community!
