The Wren was authorised as an insurance company in 1987. In the 1980s many architects in the UK became concerned about the cost and availability of insurance to cover their professional liabilities. The decision was made to form a mutual to cover these risks.
The Wren has no employees and has been managed since its inception by Tindall Riley & Company (specialist managers) who perform all the functions associated with running an insurance company on its behalf, including the handling of claims.
Over and above operating as a well-run and cost-effective insurance mutual, Wren provides (via Tindall Riley) valuable services that support the day-to-day activities of its Members. These services include risk management reviews, advice and the dissemination of guidance, comprehensive review of all contractual documentation and the facilitation of Technical and Information Management Forums.
