XX Element is a Portuguese cultural association that serves as a catalyst for promoting equity, respect, and inclusion among all individuals. Our mission involves disseminating information, education, and raising awareness about the rights and responsibilities of citizens. We focus on addressing issues related to the rights of women, the LGBTQ+ community, migrants, ethnic minorities, and other marginalized groups.
At the core of our activities is the belief that art has the power to drive social change. We actively develop artistic projects, initiatives, and social programs aimed at creating a more compassionate and equitable society. We value dignity, integrity, and the promotion of a just and equitable society, and we are committed to respecting the rights of all individuals. Our multifaceted approach includes cultural and artistic awareness campaigns, social projects in collaboration with vulnerable communities, and the organization of debates, conferences, and festivals.
Since 2016, XX Element has been working directly with schools, focusing on children and young people. Through film workshops, animation, fiction, and documentary screenings, we facilitate discussions and analyses of relevant themes related to human rights and active citizenship. We aim to encourage young people and the wider community to engage in social causes, develop civic awareness, and address contemporary societal challenges through unconventional educational methods and artistic interventions within the school environment. We believe that by harnessing the transformative potential of art, we can empower individuals, provoke critical reflection, and pave the way for a more inclusive and just society.
