Yakwoollies is the webshop for original Nepalese scarves, shawls and blankets for retail and consumers.
Sisters Mariska and Rianne are the initiators of Yak Woollies. The love of Nepali textile arose during the trips Mariska made to Nepal. She brought shawls back home for her family and of course also for friends. Everyone was soon attached to these fine woollies and asked for more. And so the idea arose to establish Yak Woollies and start importing Nepali textiles.
Our mission
It is Yak Woollies’ mission to make everyone in the Netherlands (and actually the rest of the world) acquainted with the beautiful scarves, shawls and blankets from Nepal. Made of wool and acrylic which makes them warm and washable. Guaranteed quality for years!
Fair trade
We have to be honest, we would love to make the world a better place. Fair trade is a top priority at Yak Woollies. Good prices for everyone. Good working conditions for everyone. No childlabor of course. That's why we buy directly from a local party that is very determined to encourage the local Nepalese economy. We would like to tell you some more about this;
Yak Woollies works with Asian Heritage. Asian Heritage supports Asian Heritage Foundation Nepal. The Foundation initiates local projects such as setting up community hospitals. An example is the one in Necha. Medical care is thus more accessible for Nepalese people living in remote areas and who do not have no access to regional hospitals. Asian Heritage also encourages the employment of Nepalese women by facilitating (online) sales locations for handmade handicrafts.
