Jiangsu Yancheng Middle School, or “Yanzhong” for short, was founded in 1927. It was originally named “National Fourth Sun Yat-sen University Yancheng Middle School”. In 1928, it was renamed “National Central University Yancheng Middle School” and then “Jiangsu Province Yancheng Middle School”. The name of the school was changed many times due to World War II and other reasons; in 1953, the school was renamed as "Jiangsu Yancheng Middle School".
Jiangsu Yancheng Middle School is one of the first key middle schools, the first 4-star high schools, and the first national model high schools in Jiangsu Province. It is known as one of the "five golden flowers" among middle schools in the province. Since its establishment, it has cultivated a large number of talents for the country and has become a high-quality student base for a number of top universities such as Nanjing University, Southeast University, and China University of Mining and Technology.
Jiangsu Yancheng Middle School Education Group was established in 2006. It includes three schools: Jiangsu Yancheng Middle School, Yancheng Senior Experiment High School, and Yancheng Junior Middle School. They are located on Yulong Road, Luming Road, and Kangju Road. With a total of more than 640 acres of land and more than 10,000 students, an education system of "one group, two sections, and three schools" has been formed.
