Youth Neuroscience Association of Nigeria

The Youth Neuroscience Association of Nigeria (YNAN) is a pioneering youth-led organization dedicated to empowering the next generation of African neuroscientists through education, mentorship, and advocacy. YNAN’s vision is to democratize neuroscience by fostering early interest and engagement in brain science across all education levels. Since its inception, YNAN has developed impactful programs including the annual Brain Awareness Week, the National Neuroscience Quiz Competition, and the prestigious ECO Award for the best undergraduate neuroscience student. The association hosts the Global NeuroNexus Symposium, provides travel grants to undergraduates for scientific conferences, and supports research paper presentations and publications. Through its Journal Club and scientific writing workshops, YNAN cultivates critical thinking and scholarly excellence. The establishment of NeuroClubs in secondary schools and consistent mental health outreach amplify its grassroots and national reach. Its bimonthly webinars and hands-on skill-building initiatives further reinforce capacity-building across neuroscience disciplines.
