York Housing and Support Services (YHSS) is responsible for the day-to-day running of both Belinda’s Place and the Sutton Youth Services centre and drop-in.
Youth Homelessness in York Region
At Sutton Youth Services, York Housing and Support Services is dedicated to preventing and ending youth homelessness in York Region. Services and supports focus on improving lives of homeless and at-risk youth through the provision of a safe community hub. This hub works to provide rapid and supported re-housing options, positive youth development, community re-integration, and access to the services and opportunities to increase stability, wellness and successful transitions to a healthy adulthood.
Assisting Women Who are Homeless or At-Risk of Homelessness
At Belinda’s Place, York Housing and Support Services provides basic needs, temporary housing, client-focused wraparound supports and follow up services to assist women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. We help women find housing, keep their housing and successfully reintegrate into the community.
Community Advisory Council
The YHSS Community Advisory Council helps to increase the visibility of The Salvation Army York Housing and Support Services, and as such encourages and garners community support. The professional volunteer backing and guidance is invaluable in program development and community engagement. The Community Councils helps to secure funding and/or fundraise, and ensure overall accountability.
