Young Coders’ Sphere began as a local initiative with Young Coders of Sammamish—a free, biweekly coding class that provided laptops and comprehensive tech education to local middle schoolers. With over 400 students taught, 20+ custom lesson plans created, and 15+ dedicated volunteers managed, we built a thriving community driven by curiosity, access, and mentorship.
Now, we're expanding our impact globally. Through the Challenge for Change, we pair high school and middle school students in a mentorship-based competition where they use coding and technology to tackle one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). High schoolers gain volunteer experience and leadership skills, while middle schoolers earn recognition and growth opportunities—both working together to code for a cause.
