Hi! I’m Monday Morning and I want to introduce you to my service dog, Bolt. At times, when you are down, a lick on the face or a little cuddle from a furry friend can lift your spirit. But if your anxiety runs deep, like mine, and reaches a point that it even makes you nervous to leave the house, a service dog like Bolt can help bring you back.
Dogs have been known to be trained to guide people with disabilities but in my situation, Bolt has been trained with tasks that have saved me countless times from panic attacks, anxiety and PTSD symptoms. I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder a couple years back and even with countless hours in therapy, there were just those days where I couldn’t function.
Bolt helps me break that cycle of negative thoughts and anxiety that tend to spiral out of control into panic attacks and self harm. His comforting companionship and training have given me a sense of purpose - without his help, I know I would not be able to live life to the fullest.
I know there are thousands out there who are also going through the same thing. That's why I'm sharing videos that have helped me train Bolt (and my new puppy, Bear!) to become a reliable service dog. Training a dog to do tasks for psychiatric services is possible but it does take a lot of work. That's why I'm here for you every step of the way.
