Venäjän helmikuussa 2022 aloittama oikeudeton hyökkäys Ukrainaan herätti kaikkialla solidaarisuuden tunteen Ukrainan itsenäisyystaistelun tukemiseksi. Suomalaisten aktivistien ja heidän ukrainalaisten ystävyyssuhteidensa pohjalle muodostunut yhteisö tunnisti mahdollisuuden nopean ja kohdennetun avun järjestämiseksi ja toimittamiseksi suoraan avun tarvitsijoille. Toiminta organisoitui Your Finnish Friends -yhdistykseksi. Ensimmäinen avustustarvikkeiden toimittaminen perille toteutui maaliskuun 2022 alkupäivinä.
