The EU’s outermost regions, characterized by their remoteness, small size, susceptibility to climate change, and insularity, have long grappled with unique challenges.
On May 3, 2022, the European Commission introduced a transformative strategy through the Communication “Putting people first, securing sustainable and inclusive growth, unlocking the potential of the EU's outermost regions”. At its core, this initiative seeks to address the issues faced by young people in these regions.
Empowering the youth in the outermost regions is essential for fostering a more promising future. This aim for youth empowerment draws inspiration from the European Year of Youth (2022) and the European Year of Skills (2023).
YOUTH 4 OUTERMOST REGIONS aspires to contribute to the EU’s effort of youth empowerment by providing financial support to youth-led actions based in the outermost regions through the launch of two calls for actions, to be implemented by young people addressing the issues they identify in their territories and local communities.
The project is co-financed by the European Union and SERN - Startup Europe Regions Network.
