YouthCode serves the youth of Malawi through programmes in the areas of: 1. Youth Unemployment and Inadequate Youth Participation, 2. HIV and AIDS, 3. Child Marriages and SRHR, 4. Gender, 5. Human Rights Violation, Governance and Democratisation, and 6. Climate Change. The organisation has an international outlook with partnership organisations in both Norway and Uganda.
Youth and Community Development Organistion - YouthCode, formerly known as Nkhotakota Youth Organisation, was founded in 1997 by a group of concerned youth who, at the time, were deeply displeased with the perpetual legacy of marginalisation of young people and women in mainstreaming development policy and practice in Malawi and Nkhotakota district in particular. With the emergence of a robust civil society, particularly subsequent to democratisation of Malawi’s political system, the distraught but resolute youth capitalised on the changing status quo and formed an organisation whose mandate was to provide space for youth activism, promote youth and women’s role and visibility in local development and help in the fight against emerging health problems such as HIV/AIDS.
