We are a new youth- led social enterprise empowering youth everywhere. At Youth Power Shift Australia we are focused on shifting the power dynamic and breaking the cycle of youth-washing.
Through championing youth leadership and empowering youth to lead and innovate under 35 to be be placed on boards; across the school, corporate, NGO, and government sectors, we are advocating for boardroom diversity and inclusion.
The trend of youth washing where 87% of young people in Australia see barriers to organised activities and raising issues that are important to them, is a major obstacle for today’s generation.
In addition to this, outdated educational practices and rigid societal norms often leave young people feeling constrained and undervalued. By confronting outdated systems, particularly boardrooms, to advocate for intergenerational equity and embracing more progressive approaches that value diverse talents and learning systems, we can empower young people, by equipping them with the skills and confidence they need to thrive.
Let's shift the narrative, and confront youth washing by bringing it to the forefront of the national conversation, and create boardrooms that nurture the unique potential of every individual.
