Solid tumor immunotherapy faces a significant challenge: the lack of specific targets on the tumor surface that are either not expressed or expressed at low levels in normal cell membranes. Current monoclonal antibodies and CAR-T cell therapies target membrane proteins, which are often found in both normal and cancer cells. This can lead to cross-reactions with normal cells during treatment, causing side effects and limiting effectiveness. Cellular stress, such as rapid growth, hypoxia, and increased ROS in cancer cells, can cause certain intracellular functional proteins to be externalized and expressed on the cell surface, creating escape mechanisms. The high expression of these intracellular targets in many cancers is directly correlated with a poor tumor prognosis.
Zeno's founding scientific team has developed an effective technological platform and leads research on the high-density expression of cancer-specific intracellular proteins that have been externalized and appear on the surface of cancer cells, offering potential targets for cancer immunotherapy, including Bispecific antibody, ADC, RIT, and CAR-T cell therapy for both solid and blood cancers.
Founded by Dr. Li Lietao and Professor Reinhard Zeidler, Zeno Therapeutics owns global exclusive intellectual property rights to four new cancer targets and antibodies for developing innovative cancer immune therapies.
