ZIP is a student-founded rideshare marketplace redefining how college communities move.
Built exclusively for university students, ZIP connects riders with fellow student drivers — ensuring a safer, more trusted environment than traditional rideshare services. By empowering users to negotiate their own fares and communicate directly within the app, ZIP offers a more flexible, and community-centric transportation experience tailored directly to the needs of students.
Unlike mainstream platforms, ZIP lets drivers keep 100% of fares, with no cuts. This allows drivers to accept lower offers while still earning more, creating a win-win situation for everyone.
ZIP was founded at Davidson College and awarded $5,000 in initial seed funding through the Nisbet Venture Fund. It is currently preparing for open beta launch in Fall 2025, and looking forward for expansion to additional campuses across the U.S.
