In 2016, we discovered that African prints, what we know as the Ankara fabric, the pattern designs on these fabrics, none, designed by Africans nor majority produced in Africa.
This discovery started us on an exciting UNafraid journey and ZURI and IMANI was born!
ZURI and IMANI is on a mission to ‘Change the Narrative of the African Print’. We are a textile and surface design studio specializing in creating original and exclusive pattern designs for the fashion, interior and paper goods industries. We also work on bespoke commissions, collaborations and licensing.
We weave modern stories through our designs, inspired by Africa's narratives made up of its culture, history, and landmarks to create 'our own' authentic Africanity content designs but still retain an awareness of current trends in design.
