Tsuchiya Kaban began making leather bags in an industrial Tokyo suburb in 1965.
In Japan, every elementary school student receives a small backpack called "Randoseru" upon beginning his or her first year of school. This bag accompanies the student until 6th grade, serving as their best companion. It is in fact the only thing that remains constant in their six years of elementary school life. Tsuchiya Kaban got its start producing comfortable and durable bags that grow with the children who use them.
Some 50 years have passed since Tsuchiya Kaban was established. Today, this brand continues to make bags that are sturdy, durable, and comfortable. It has also drawn on its decades of accumulated leatherworking experience and technical expertise to continuously change and innovate, resulting in a line of leather bags for adults with a manufacturing process that requires a countless number of steps, each one carefully and meticulously executed by Tsuchiya Kaban craftsmen.
