Shehezi University is a national key university led by the Ministry of Education China, which is ranked among constructed university under the national “211 project”. The school's predecessor was established in 1949. In April 1996, It was founded under integration of Shihezi Agricultural College, Shihezi Medical College, and two other Corps Colleges by the Ministry of Agriculture.
Located in Shihezi, the Garden City, by the river of Manas, north of Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang, the campus covers 1,870,000 square meters. Based on the geography advantages, Shihezi University established International Education Center to develop international corporation with neighboring nations. It set up a Confucius Institute in Kazakhstan and accepted over 800 international students from 15 countries.
