The Advanced Control and Intelligent Systems (ACIS) Laboratory is a multidisciplinary research group at the University of Victoria, founded by Dr. Homayoun Najjaran. Originally established in 2006 at UBC Okanagan, ACIS transitioned to UVic in 2022 and continues to push the boundaries of research in intelligent and autonomous systems. Our lab is actively engaged in solving complex challenges at the intersection of artificial intelligence, robotics, and cyber-physical systems. Our current research spans a wide range of topics, including: - Autonomous vehicles and robot motion planning - Drone systems and aerial photogrammetry - AR/VR and human-robot interaction - Computer vision, domain adaptation, and representation learning - Reinforcement learning and safe decision-making in robotics - Intelligent manufacturing, condition monitoring, and process automation - Explainable AI and multi-agent systems We maintain strong partnerships with industry leaders across Canada and internationally, collaborating on applied research projects that translate advanced AI and robotics innovations into practical solutions.
