ActiveWatch- Agentia de Monitorizare a Presei este o organizatie neguvernamentala, independenta, nonprofit de drepturile omului care militeaza pentru comunicare libera in interes public.
Activitatea sa a inceput in 1994, odata cu infiintarea departamentului cu acelasi nume in cadrul Asezamantului Cultural Academia Catavencu. Incepand cu iunie 2006, Agentia de Monitorizare a Presei a devenit organizatie de sine statatoare, cu personalitate juridica, sub denumirea “Asociatia Agentia de Monitorizare a Presei”.
Din 2004, ActiveWatch este membra a retelei Reporteri fara Frontiere (Reporters without borders/ Reporters sans frontieres).
Organizatia noastra a influentat politicile UE fata de Romania in perioada de preaderare si a intervenit activ in procesul legislativ pentru asigurarea libertatii de exprimare si accesului la informatii. In domeniul educatiei media, am generat modificari ale curiculei preuniversitare si universitare pentru promovarea unui nivel de competenta a elevilor si studentilor in domeniul si tehnicile media. De asemenea, ne-am remarcat prin programe care au vizat modificarea discursului public despre grupurile dezavantajate din Romania.
