Under this rule, most Gulf countries, except the UAE, began testing the pesticide levels in each shipment of Indian cardamom. If the pesticide levels exceeded acceptable limits, the consignments were rejected. This significantly affected the price of Indian cardamom, causing a drop from $26 to $15 per unit.
These challenges highlight the importance of maintaining quality control measures and adhering to international standards to ensure the sustained success and marketability of Indian cardamom in the Gulf and other regions.
